The Hidden City

The Hidden City

Get off the beaten track and discover the unknown parts of Amsterdam, on foot and sailing in a beautiful restored historic boat. The first hour we will discover on foot the medieval heart of the city. We'll not only pass the oldest church, streets and houses but also the oldest profession! The second part of our trip we will continue by boat and explore some of the oldest and narrowest canals and less known parts of the city leaving the regular roundtrip boats behind.

Any idea who were the first people to live in Amsterdam (and why they bothered at all?) Why are there houses painted black in the city? Where the red lights come from? And what’s the connection between the Red Light District and chaste nuns? Your local expert will tell you all about the little secrets and peculiarities of the city! During the program will serve a typical 17th century liquor like ‘Rose without Thorns’, ‘Heaven on Earth’ or ‘Kiss me quick'.
